I'm doing it for a mixture of reasons:-
Ethanol can be much more powerful than petrol/gasoline, because although it has lower energy density at S.T.P. it’s got much better resistance to pre-ignition and higher compression means more power.
The American cancer society thinks air pollution from cars causes Breast cancer and many other types of cancer both malignant and not so malignant. During lock-down when driving was restricted anyone with Asthma got much better our kids and grand-kids will have less chance of getting sick.
Ethanol is negative carbon footprint that means using it should reverse the effects of man-made climate change. The melting of the ice caps, the more powerful weather events and the changing of the direct in and power of the Gulf steam.
It doesn't take a much training to make ethanol, after all before Prohibition most American farmers had a still it was a normal piece of farm machinery a good way of processing damp corn, stopping it rotting in the field.
The oil companies like the tobacco companies have conned us they're selling fuel they know causes cancer, but like magicians they talk fast and and try their best to misdirect everyone’s attention from the few studies there have been.
I wouldn't have a problem with people who have invested in oil companies if they would want to now re-invest in greener and more ethical companies.
Lastly there is a nationalistic component in that for every gallon of domestically made fuel sold, all of the money stays in the country. I don’t think anyone should be exporting a good part of our gross national product to other countries, when they could be making ethanol here.
As OUR fuel is made from OUR waste or OUR cereals no foreign power could hold us to ransom.
