I'm doing it for a mixture of reasons:-
I think ethanol can be much more powerful than petrol/gasoline, because although it has lower energy density at S.T.P. The thing is all I.C. engines work under compression and at the right compression the ED X CR the resultant power is more.
I've got a non malignant slow growing brain tumour and the American cancer society thinks air pollution from cars causes tumours of this type and if we use less petrol our grand kids will have less chance of getting this and other types of tumour.
Ethanol is negative carbon footprint that means using it should reverse the effects of man-made climate change. The melting of the ice caps, the more powerful weather events and the changing of the direction and power of the Gulf steam.
It doesn't take a much training to make ethanol, after all before Prohibition most American farmers had a still it was a normal piece of farm machinery a good way of processing damp corn, stopping it rotting in the field.
The oil companies have conned us they're selling fuel they know causes cancer, but like magicians they talk fast and and try their best to misdirect everyone’s attention from the few studies there have been.
I wouldn't have a problem with people who have invested in oil companies if they would want to now re-invest in greener and more ethical companies.
Lastly there is a nationalistic component in that for every gallon of domestically made fuel sold, all of the money stays in the country. I don’t think we should be exporting a good part of our gross national product to other countries, when we could be making ethanol here.
As OUR fuel is made from OUR waste or OUR cereals no foreign power could hold us to ransom.
